If you are building a website for the first time, you may have several queries about website development and its process. Before you hire a website developer to create a site, you may like to ask them a few important questions.
In this blog post, we have shared some of the most common questions that our clients ask us. We have also answered each question for your reference which will help you to understand the website development process in a better way.
Let’s dive in.
What’s a domain name?
A domain name is a unique identifier for a website. It is the address that users will type into their browser to access your site. A domain name is made up of two parts: the second-level domain (SLD), which is the name of your website, and the top-level domain (TLD), which is the suffix such as .com, .net, or .org.
Domain names are important because they are how users will find your website. A good domain name is short, easy to remember, and relevant to your business or website. A bad domain name can be long and difficult to remember, or it could be unrelated to your business, which will make it hard for users to find your site.
What’s website hosting?
A website hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their websites accessible via the World Wide Web.
Websites are hosted or stored, on special computers called servers. When Internet users want to view your website, all they need to do is type your website address or domain into their browser. Their computer will then connect to your server and your web pages will be delivered to them through the browser.
Website hosting is an important service because it ensures that your website is available to internet users 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It also provides you with a secure place to store your website files and gives you control over who has access to those files. Website hosting services can also provide you with tools and features that can make it easier for you to manage your website.
What’s the difference between a domain name and hosting?
Many people get confused and can’t differentiate between a domain name and web hosting.
A domain name is simply the address of your website. It’s what people will type into their browsers to visit your site. On the other hand, web hosting is the service that provides you with the space to store your website’s files. Without web hosting, people would not be able to view your site online.
What’s the website development process that you follow?
We follow a 5-step process to build websites for our clients:
- Website design: This is the first step of any website development process. The design of the website is created for the client’s approval. After making the necessary changes as per the client’s feedback, the next step is to start the website development.
- Development: This is where all the effort is involved. We choose an appropriate CMS or framework and develop the website using the design approved by our client.
- Testing: After the website development is completed, we would then test the website for all the basic checkpoints.
- Launch: After the testing of a website is completed, we will launch the website so that it’s accessible to everyone around the world.
- Post-launch activities: There are a few important post-launch activities that we need to do after launching the website. These post-launch activities involve but are not limited to loading speed testing, browser compatibility testing, responsiveness testing, etc.
How much time does it take to build a website?
For a basic business website, it may take 2 weeks or more to complete the website, while it may take a month or more to complete an eCommerce website.
How much is the cost to create a website?
There are no standard rules for pricing that all website developers or companies follow. But when you hire a website design company in India, you should be able to build a basic website for as low as $400, and for an eCommerce website, you may have to pay as low as $800.
What if I didn’t like the website design?
Before we start developing the website, we would first share the design of the site with our client and would make the necessary changes according to their feedback. Only after getting the final approval about the design from our client, did we start working on the website development.

Can you make some changes after the website development is completed?
Yes, there are many changes that can be done even after the website development is completed. These changes may involve logo replacement, image replacement, or color changes. However, structural changes may not be possible to do after the website development process is completed.
How will I be able to make changes to the website?
We use CMS (content management system) such as WordPress to build websites. A CMS-driven website allows webmasters to log in and change the content, images, and menus of the website. Webmasters or website owners are also able to add more pages to the website without hiring their web developers again and again.
